Bloomsburg University hosted the National Broadcasting Society's (NBS) Freedom States Regional Convention this past weekend where approximately 125 students were in attendance from 14 universities along the east coast. The different NBS Chapters, Rider, Kutztown, SUNY-Plattsburg, and Monmouth University just to name a few, came to spend a weekend in Bloomsburg to learn the ins and outs of the broadcasting from industry professionals and to establish networking.

BU's environmentally friendly organization Campus Green is out in full force this week. The organization has been busy sponsoring a Recycling Awareness Week this week on campus to teach students the importance of recycling. Students and faculty may have noticed the tables set up in buildings around campus hosting a collection of recyclables.
On Thursday, November 15, the Great American Smokeout Fair will inform visitors of the dangers of smoking, cancer, mouth diseases, lung problems, and other health issues springing from tobacco use. The event will take place in Kehr Union from 10 a.m. to 3 p.
Bloomsburg University is once again working with the Marine Corps in the annual Toys for Tots campaign, which starts every year in mid November until Christmas. It is especially important this year, as it is in memory of Cynthia Fisher, who was dedicated to this worthwhile cause.
